I attempted to apply the same process you listed in your 2010 version.
I use 7zip to edit the .wsp file and I navigate to the \FBAManagement\FBAMenus\Elements.xml file. Edit this file and remove the section:
<CustomAction
I try to save the file while editing the .wsp file but it sends an error that it cant rebuild the .wsp file. If I extract the .wsp file how to I recompile it to a .wsp? Is there any additional feedback you can give me for this?
