Disable Sending Emails to registered users

Is there a way to disable automatic sending of emails to FBA users from the webpart? I see that I can uncheck the box when creating a user from the FBA User Management page, but not the webpart.

No, but you can adjust the content of the email on the FBA Site Configuration page.
